Band saws and circular saws used in wood processing usually weld alloy serrations in order to save costs and prolong their service life. Cobalt alloy is a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant material, suitable for some abrasive or acidic wood cutting, such as red cedar. This allows cobalt alloy blades to maintain longer cutting times than carbide blades, and to perform better than other materials when cutting some green woods.
